About us

Carrie Bower is the Founder of Visible Later Lives. She has over 25 years’ experience working in social care and the charity sector in a variety of roles, all focused on older people.
She is passionate about raising the visibility of people in later life impacted by trauma and domestic abuse, through training those working with people in later life and consultancy with organisations who are committed to strengthening their policies and practices.
Carrie is a registered social worker with Social Work England, trainer and consultant, specialising in domestic abuse in later life. Â Carrie is an accredited Victim Focus trauma informed trainer.
She has co-produced and delivers SafeLives Older People’s Violence Advisor (OPVA) training and Lime Culture’s Older Peoples Sexual Violence Advocate (ISVA) training.
Carrie hosts a podcast which is a free resource available on Spotify, where Carrie speaks to professionals and those who have been impacted by trauma and domestic abuse. The aim of the podcast is to raise awareness for a wide audience using conversation.Â
Carrie is a sole trader, trading as Visible Later Lives.Â
